Master Da An (Da An Fa Shi) is one of the Buddhist monks who propagates Pure Land Buddhism. He advises us to recite the name of Amitabha Buddha earnestly and he also advises us to put the recitation into a daily practice.
Furthermore, he ever said that in former times, Pure Land practitioners used to recite "Namo Amitabha" or "Amitabha" for at least 30,000 times a day. But nowadays, the minimum limit for a real Pure Land practioner should be at least 20,000 times a day. We don't have that kind of earnest heart like people do in former times. So, 20,000 times should be able to be accomplish in a day. If we can't reach the target, our mind will still be in the worldly impurities. If possible increase the 20,000 times after a certain period. The more the better.
He also stresses a lot on the routine daily practice of recitation. It means that we must recite every day without any day absent. This is to ensure that our faith and vow remain always.
